I’d been thinking about doing a blog for quite a long time.  My son-in-law has one for the church he pastors.  I love to write and this seemed to be an ideal place to do that.  I have a lot of material collected, preached and taught over the years that is just bursting to come out.  Besides, the Scriptures themselves are a source of never-ending treasure and wonder.

I’m happily married to a wonderful woman who puts up with me, and has for more than 50  years now.  We have five children, one having gone ahead to wait for us in heaven, and 9 grandchildren, two of them having gone ahead to meet our child in heaven and to wait for us and his or her folks, skipping all the travails of this life and being ushered directly into the arms of that One Who loves them better than we ever could.  One is on the way.

When I started this blog, I had no idea what to expect.  I hoped to meet some of you through this medium and to praise and glorify the God Who has given us so much, starting with His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Since then, I have been privileged to “meet” several of you through this blog and cannot tell you how much I have appreciated your comments and encouragement.  Thank you.  God’s richest blessings to you all.

About the title:  when I started this blog, I was a novice at this sort of thing.  The title I wanted had already been taken.  This title was “available.”  Without really understanding what I was doing, I clicked “enter” and so here we are:  nightlightblogdotcom.

About the header picture:  this photo was taken by a relative of one of the bloggers I follow.  She published it on her blog:  heavenly raindrops.  I fell in love with it, being from Colorado myself.  It shows Pikes Peak, with a couple of the formations of the Garden of the Gods near Colorado Springs, Colorado, in the foreground.  I lived within an hour’s drive of that mountain for about 40 years and have never been to the top.  That highway is world-famous and is the site of an annual race.  The odd thing is, a house we bought near Chicago was sold to us by people who were moving to Colorado Springs.  It is indeed a small world.

Thank you for stopping by and giving me a moment of your time.  I hope it is well-spent and that you find blessing and encouragement within these posts.

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever.  Amen. Jude 24, 25.

  1. I was drawn to your blog by a reblog of your post Where is God on the List on the Lessons By Heart blog. I enjoyed reading it; very thought provoking and a great reminder. I decided to check out your blog further after reading that and this one about yourself and am now following it. I look forward to exploring more of your writings. Have a blessed Lord’s day and Happy September!

    • Thank you for your kind comments and for the follow. I’ve thought about “hiring” Tami as a publicity agent. 😉 She has been kind enough to reblog two or three of my posts. She is a wonderful sister in Christ and her own writings honor God.

Thanks, again, and I hope you find value and blessing in my posts. Look forward to following yours.

  2. Amazing thoughts you are sharing. Also sloved your Death Bed post. I too have a son living with the Most High God, and often become envious over his release from this life. But alas, God still has many plans in stock for those of us left behind!

  3. Hello, dearest brother. I know awards are not why you blog, I understand your position completely and mean no disrespect by dropping one on you again. This one is a little different. It is to honor those I’ve met here In Blogtopia who’ve become family. I consider you as such. I don’t care if you don’t post it. I just couldn’t leave you off the short list! It’s here, if you want to see it…http://lessonsbyheart.wordpress.com/2013/06/10/wordpress-family-award/ 🙂

(I won’t pass any of the others your way, but this one is special.)

    • Thank you for thinking about me in this way. With folks like you in Blogtopia [LOVE that word!], I’ve found something I never had growing up – a family. Having parents and brothers and sisters, neither of which I had – just Mom, is different from being a parent with children who are brothers and sisters.

Thanks, again. I’ll have to see if I can do all the things on the list.

    • Thank you. This is a great neighborhood to be in. Thank you and all the others I’ve become acquainted with in the neighborhood for all your comments and encouragement.

  4. Thanks for sharing a slice of your life here with your readers … I think we can learn so much from one another … as we follow the Lord on the paths He has for us! I appreciate your heart for Him and the Truth. Blessings to you!

  5. “I have a lot of material collected, preached and taught over the years that is just bursting to come out.” To limit posts to one per day can be a real challenge, can’t it? 🙂

Comments? Feedback? Much appreciated. Thanks.
